West London Plant Hire Customer
17:30hrs RingTrack Recovery Operator Arrives in area where current location of Stolen Plant is shown to be located on RingTrack System which was in the area of A13 junction with Movers Lane Barking, Essex.
19:15hrs Faint signal received at the junction of Thames Road, Renwick Road and River Road, Thamesmead in the direction of the south.
19:20hrs Strong signal received in River Road to the east approximately 200 metres north of the junction with Atcost Road. This area is part of the new development of the Barking and Dagenham Industrial Estate which runs along River Road from approximately the junction with Atcost road north east into Renwick Road. Most of the area is covered with large metal transport containers. The signal was coming from the area of one of the yards which was secured by a ten foot metal security fence and heavily padlocked gates. On the gate were no numbers but a sign stating Bellway Homes.
19:30hrs Ringtrack Control room informed of the finding and the Metropolitan Police requested to attend.
20:35hrs Police Constable 510 KG EVANS and colleague arrived. Eventually the night watchman was roused and entry gained to the yard. A search of the area showed that the signal was coming from the east of this yard in an area to the rear of the electricity sub station which is next door and to the south of the yard we were in.
To gain entry to this new area was from an unnamed roadway from River Road. Approximately 30 metres along this entrance is an electronically controlled security gate controlled by swipe card. Fortunately the gate was faulty as we were able gain entry to this area. There were approximately six businesses in this area. All the businesses were secured by ten foot high steel security fencing and heavy chains and steel padlocks on the gates. It was ascertained that the signal was coming from a yard containing steel containers, piles of scaffolding and scrap metal. There were no signs marks or numbers on the fencing so identification of the yard was impossible at that time of night. After discussion with the Police it was decided to try again during working hours the next day. |
